The role of Arun Verma played by Anil Kapoor in Mr. India (1987) directed by Shekhar Kapur was initially written for Amitabh Bachchan by his favourite writers Salim - Javed. But since Amitabh Bachchan did not wish to do the film, it went to Anil Kapoor. Needless to say, Anil Kapoor did full justice to the character of Arun Verma and the movie was a runaway success.
